Orange

Chinon orange (75 cl)

Domaine du Roncée
Chinon

Orange wine is produced through the maceration of Chenin Blanc grapes, employing vinification process traditionally used for red wines.

A nod to a millenia-old tradition.

To enhance its aromatic and structural complexity, we chose on ancestral technique: the “SOLERA”.

This fractional and perpetual aging method allows us to move beyond vintage constraints and express the pure identity of orange wine.

EXPERIENCE RANGE

In Panzoult, many traces of early human activity date back to the Paleolithic era. During Gallo-Roman times, a real settlement already existed here. Around the farm buildings of the Domaine du Roncée, numerous artifacts (fibulae, pottery, and more) bear witness to this long history. Nearby, in Crouzilles, specifically at the site known as Mougon, there was a settlement in the 1st century AD that specialized in pottery production, particularly wine amphorae.

CUVÉE STORY

The story of wine began nearly 10,000 years ago, shortly after the birth of agriculture. At that time, the first grapes were white, and pressing techniques had not yet been developed. They would appear somewhat later. It seems that the earliest wines were made by macerating white grapes, resulting in what we now call « orange » wines.

VINTAGE

100% in oak barrels from 3 to 10 years old, following the SOLERA method to achieve a harmonious blend of vintages.

TASTING

Pale gold colour with subtle copper highlights. Charming nose combining notes of pear, beeswax, and honey. On the palate, the wine reveals volume and complexity : creamy attack, elegant tannic structure, aromas of green apple, orange peel, agave, and saffron. Persistant finish with a fine bitterness.

FOOD & WINE PAIRING

A perfect match for dishes with Oriental flavors and sweet-and-savory dishes : tagine with dried fruits, green papaya salad, cider-roasted pork, or orange-glazed carrots.

TIP

Serve it at cellar temperature.
